Why do that for SuSE ???
Since it's not legal to distribute the fonts in a package itself I assume
that you just have downloaded an installer for Debian that
fetches and installs the fonts. That's why SuSE does
not include those fonts on the Distro installation media.
However SuSE offers them through a YAST online update
just as other non GPL/binary only software e.g. NVIDIA Drivers.
For SuSE:
Option 1:
You either go through YAST->Online Update and then select the
package for installing the MS TT Core fonts. It's actually
a shell script that is executed after the download. Fetching
and installing the fonst will take some time.
OR:
Option 2 is you do it manually.
Download the fetch MS Fonts script
http://www.tux.org/pub/distributions...chmsttfonts.sh
and save it to disk.
Now su or better su - to become root.
If you su -
then you will be transferred to the root home directory. Now change into the directory
you have downloaded the script. If you use Firefox it will be very likely your home directory.
Now change the owner and group for the script
chown root fetchmsttfonts.sh
chgrp fetchmsttfonts.sh
Set now persmissions
chmod ug+x fetchmsttfonts.sh
Execute the script
. ./fetchmsttfonts.sh
You will see how the fonts will be downloaded and extractet. If you do not use
a proxy server then simply ignore the displayed warning that no proxy is defined.
After all fonts are fetched and installed you may (not necessary) get an error message,
telling you that BEGINN is mising.
Ignore it (we are invoking the script manually and not with YAST).
After that invoke
SuSEconfig
That's it!
